I'm working on cleaning up the default template and its CSS. Along the way I am encountering strange things that have no explanation. First two questions:

1) What are "TEMPLATE-DATA" references and how do I edit the data format that replaces them? I understand that it is generated data, but where does the template from the data get defined? Example, "cat_path" and "forum_list_table_data" in index.tmpl.

2) What is the `p="{VAR: i[0]}"` for in some table definitions? Not only does it violate the DTD, but it doesn't make any sense. Would the forum crash and burn if I were to remove those?

TEMPLATE-DATA is equivalent to VAR, I generally use it to refer to a variable containing a particular template rather then a generic variable.

The 2nd is a custom property (works in all browsers I've tried so far) used for category collapsing JavaScript.
