I am using FUDforum 2.7.4.

Let's say in the admin console censorship system I enter "rudeWord" to be censored and "****" to replace it with.

If somebody puts rudeWord into a post, when they click submit it is replaced with ****. That is all fine, sensitive eyes are protected and everybody is happy.

The problem is, that if somebody puts **** into a post, then comes back to edit it. FUDforum helpfully assumes that they must have originally typed rudeWord and places that into their edit window instead of ****.

People get offended if they think a computer is randomly inserting swearwords into their messages, and I don't think changing the replacements back during editing is actually useful to anybody as they are just going to get censored or recensored anyway.

Please consider removing this "feature" in future versions.

I noticed this. Also, when the string is translated back to the "original" rudeWord value, it is converted to the value of the first rudeWord in your list that uses the same replacement string.

One workaround to avoid offending your viewers is to use the same replacement string for all of your rudeWords (I was using the code :xxx: to show a smiley - index.php?t=getfile&id=2537&private=0) and then put a string that's not likely to be used that is not totally offensive as the first word to be replaced (i.e., "unprintable").

There is no way to help the "reverse" decoding other then using fairly rarely used replacement strings.
