What version of the forum were you trying to install? Have you tried using the non-lib installation package?

What is the md5 checksum of the install.php file you are running? Do you have any zend modules loaded such as APC, Zend Optimizer, etc... ?

84125054f474b30df9266afa5b5215d2 appears to be the correct md5 checksum for the non-zlib installer archive.

However the code seems to go into the zlib encoded part of the application. Are you sure you copied the non-zlib install.php into the directory you are installing from?

So, far I have not been able to replicate the problem you are reporting.
