Hello,
i'm using win2k3 server, php5, mysql5 environment
when i install the forum of step1, it display:

Your WWW_ROOT does not correspond with the SERVER_ROOT path you have specified. (unable to retrive: http://www.900.com./fudforum/WWW_ROOT_CHECK, on disk as: C:/2003web/FUDforum/WWW_ROOT_CHECK, received data: w/error: failed to open stream: HTTP request failed! HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found




my root config:

Server Root C:/2003web/FUDforum/
Forum Data Root C:/2003web/FUDforum/
Forum WWW Root http://www.900.com/fudforum/



i would install the forum in the C:/2003web/FUDforum/

is it my path wrong ?

Basically what the forum does is put a sample file inside C:/2003web/FUDforum/ and then tries to access it via http://www.900.com/fudforum/. When it fails the error you are seeing is displayed is when the sample file cannot be found. This usually means that the web dir does not correspond to the specified URL.

You need to make sure that the URL corresponds to the web directory.

URL is correct
can be access on web

Your problem is that the c:/2003web/fudforum/ directory is not writable by the webserver. You need to change the directory permissions in such a way as to allow everyone to write/read from it.

What WWW_ROOT and SERVER_ROOT did you specify?

Do files placed inside WWW_ROOT appear to be web accessible from SERVER_ROOT ?

Hmm ...ok I'm going to remove all FUDforum files (including the tar.gz that I uploaded). Could you tell me where I upload it in the first place ...do I go inside public_html? ...Or do I upload the tar.gz before going in there? And then after I extract the tar.gz files, what happens?

Just run the install.php via the browser and specify the proper directories.

i gave the permission wirte/read for the folder,but still not work.

Warning: fopen(C:/2003web/fudforum/WWW_ROOT_CHECK): failed to open stream: Permission denied in C:\2003web\fudforum\install.php on line 732


i tried to run a write file php script, it can be wrote into the folder.
that mean it have a write permission to wirte file.

but it still can't install.

is it my path wrong ? or fudforum does not to suit on windows 2003 paltform ?thanks

The problem is clearly a permissions issue, PHP script is trying to open the file indicated and failing.
