Could intergrate a skype icon and a google chat icon perhaps?
I put in my forum a Skype icon so when someone is online you can just click the icon to have your Skype call them up (can change functionality so you add them to your list instead of instant call etc also)
Don't know if you wanna use the online/offline checks but it would be a nice addition =)
