Hi,
Question 1:
I've had a few users report that they click once to post/submit their message, and they are getting duplicate postings. The only thing that I can see is that one of my users sent me a report about a Posting Flood. (PASTED IN BELOW)
I've never had the forum double post a message for me, maybe they are clicking submit twice? I dunno. The reason that I put this message in "HOWTO" is that I'm not sure what the optimal "Flood" setting in Global should be, also, I wanted to ask another question
Reported By: hirkens On: Wed, 15 November 2006 06:11 In: General Chatter » General Chatter » Birthdays n stuff
Reason I got an error message when this message was posting: "A Posting Flood occured - Try again in 3 seconds". When I retired, the message got posted twice. DL
[Delete Report]
Question 2:
How can I set the forum to allow users to delete their own messages. I know they can edit their own, but how can they delete their own (only.) I am using FudForum 2.7.5.
Thanks,
Brett

I am unsure if you can allow a user to delete their own messages. I honestly think this is intentional, because the current going "netiquette" is to disallow users to delete their own posts. Heck, most forums disallow editing of own posts after 10 minutes.
The reasoning the communities use when they disallow deletion of posts is to preserve continuity, combined with abuse, flaming and criminal protection. If a user posts something "bad" on a site that "you" are responsible for, it is important that they cannot quickly "cover their tracks" if you need to pursue the problem. Not allowing users to delete posts makes for better posting and more caution and thought before hitting that lovely submit button.
I have my Flood setting to 60 seconds

The forum does not allow you to give users the ability to delete their own messages, that is generally a undesirable behavior. Set the post flood to 20-30 seconds and the problem of duplicate posts will go away.
