the right one uses the default setting and the code shows ok

the left one uses a different font setting which looks much better, but the code can NOT be recognized any more

You can disable the CAPTCHA checks inside the admin control panel.

This thread explains why I had so much trouble registering, for the life of me I could not read the captcha code. I finally managed but I have to wonder how many other people would not have continued trying.
Is there a way to change the way the captcha displays on different settings?
I am now setting up and using FudForum, but am concerned that people will not register if they cannot read the code, any suggestions?
Many thanks

You can disable the captcha. We try to hard-code a font a one that will render the captcha properly, however some browsers have settings allowing them to overwrite default fonts, causing the display problem.

Thank You Very Much for the Quick reply, But I believe I have the problem licked (Crossed fingers), I found the above post about the same basic problem, being related to default settings which was on the money. So I tried unsuccessfully editing the English Msg file, before I discovered that the version of Fud I am using has a built in Msg editor, so I solved the problem by adding instructions to the captcha message to users to reset their defaults if the captcha was illegible. Hopefully problem solved, No Harm no foul as I have no users and am just experimenting with it for now. I am now looking into editing the help function to offer more information to users that I can add as I co along.

While I am here is there a reason this page is extending beyond the borders Left sand or right? It is not doing so on all pages?

Do your settings instruct the browser to overwrite the default font?

No I usually override the default colors but presently am using the page defaults, which is why it is peculiar that the page runs over, It looks normal on other pages here, I was thinking that the page size may have been reset as a result of the Graphic above? Of , course I don't know that just guessing.

There are two styles used, so the latter style gets priority. So perhaps you need to change the style order in the template.

Ilia perhaps we have a misunderstanding here! The page I am seeing run over the edge of the screen is here on fudforum.org, My copy of fud is displaying normally, so I fail to see how changing the theme of my fud would affect how I view this site?
All other pages that I can recall here view correctly it is only this page, so I was just wondering why? And thought it might be because of the above graphic.

It has to do with an image in an earlier message. This image stretches the page so all messages end up using all available space, even the one requiring horizontal scroll to see.

Ok, that’s basically what I suspected, and now I know for sure! Thanks!
I have only been here for a short while yet you seem always to be around, you must be very passionate about what you do! Such dedication is to be admired and I want you to know that it is apparent and appreciated.

I have used forums of different types for years but until recently knew absolutely nothing about how they worked or how they existed behind the screen that appears before me. Deciding to create one myself was and is a leap for me, and having this board available for information and guidance is a godsend. You and the others here should be quite proud of yourselves!
