A forum I help administer has just migrated to a new server. It didn't have any major problems at first glance, but it does have several nonfatal issues.

One that I've already fixed was the forum's failure to display most images. I discovered in the file manager that the "read" and "execute" attributes had been turned off on the ../images directory and all the files in it. I used "chmod" to allow the group and the world to read and execute the image directory and the images within it. They are now displaying normally.

I've also noticed that the formatting for the administrator panel has gone all crazy. There are no background colors or colors in the tables (it's just plain white), and I have to scroll way down to see the menu on the left. Could this also be a problem with file and directory attributes, or a symptom of something else?

Is there an easy way to reset all the attributes in the forum's directory tree back to the default settings? If not, how can I get a list of the default attributes for the directory tree? Also, is there anything I should beware of when changing the r-w-x attributes in the forum's file structure?

Thanks for any help.

Make sure that all forum files are readable and writable by the webserver. You also may need to rebuild the theme.
