I noticed, that if you create a new message, that should only be readable for a certain period (4 days), it would be shown longer than this time.
At my case the message was shown even after 3 weeks.

The option you are referring to applies only to Sticky/Announcment threads. Even then after the message 'expires' it does not get deleted, but rather no longer forced to the top of the thread listing in the forum where message was made regardless of the date when it was posted.
This is not a bug.
