Is there any way to allow an RSS feed for non-public topics, possibly by embedding the username and password into the URL alongside the frm_id, etc. ?

I'm not opposed to hacking this in myself, if one of the devs would be so kind as to point to me which function in the code handles this operation.

Yeah, you can do that via the RSS control panel

Only way I heard of was to assigne the RSS feed a user number, and the RSS feed gets the same rights as that specific user number, not really the way I would want it to work hehe.

Perhaps I'm confused, but I don't understand how you enable feeds for restricted forums such that they're only viewable by the appropriate user.

The control panel says:

"By default when perform authentication, the forum will treat validate the user as anonymous, however of increased or lowered permission you can specify exactly which user will the RDF feed be authenticated as. This field allows you to enter the id of that user."

So I can have the feed pose as a user with access to the restricted forums, but this doesn't help me as it opens up these restricted forums to public view.

How can I create an RSS feed of restricted forums that's only viewable by people with access to those forums?

If the person is logged in, the RSS feed will use their privileges to try an access the feed. However, if they don't have an identifying FUDforum cookie they will be denied access to the protected forums.

That never worked for me, at least not when parsing the RSS feed via a webpage - Perhaps it only works if I access the RSS feed directly in my browser?

That would be the case because the browser is the session holder.
