Bu default FUDfoum only indexes words that are 3 characters or longer. This is problematic, for example users cannot search for something like "VB".

Is there a setting to also index 2-character words? If not, can one be added?

You can change the code to do this, there is no setting to control this value at this time.

Hi, Ilia,

I am newbie here.

How hard is to change the coding so 2-letter words can be indexed? Just a few lines, or massive amount of work? and where?

Thanks!

Don

ps.
I also have related issue on indexing numbers, which I will post under the original posting. Seems that not working for me for some reason.

If I remember correctly, it wasn't necessary to change any code. FUDforum uses MySQL's Full-Text Search facility, which needs to be tweaked to index what you want to search for.

Add the following to your MySQL config file and restart the database:
# Minimum word length to be indexed by the full text search index.
# You might wish to decrease it if you need to search for shorter words.
# Note that you need to rebuild your FULLTEXT index, after you have
# modified this value.
ft_min_word_len = 2

When done, you can recreate the search index from FUDforum's Admin Control Panel.
