when I run the conversion script, I get this quite unhelpful error message:

Couldn't open MySQL connection to Ikon board database. MySQL Reason:

Where to start?

One more bit of pertinent information:

The Ikon board and FUD are in the same SQL database, just different tables.

It sounds like it may have failed to acquire IkonBoard login credentials. Does your PHP have E_NOTICE errors enabled, if not can you enable them.
