Many users are lazy and do not edit their profiles after they initially sign up. I do not believe that FUDforum allows users to choose an avatar when they first sign up. I'd love to see the avatar selection be available on the sign up page.

(Note: I searched the forums and did not find a similar post, so I am posting this suggestion.)

It is done for a reason actually.

Avatars such as url/file upload allow a user to upload a file, we do not want to waste our resources and disk space for a user who has yet to confirm their account.

Once their account is created they are welcome to pick an avatar for themselves.
