i test smtp in FUDforum 2.2.4RC3.
192.168.212.5 is a smtp server

The script timed out because it took too long to connect to the SMTP server.

Can you telnet from your forum server to port 25 on your SMTP server? How long does it take? If that works, it may be a FUDforum-related issue. If that doesn't work, it isn't. Smile

Forgive me if this is obvious, but very often folks think there is an application error when in fact the SMTP connection is faulty due to firewalls, proxies, routing problems or other network issues between the application server (FUD) and the SMTP server.
