hello,
seems that the current install takes away the user permissions on the forum directory structure... which mite not have mattered if I were able to change the graphics from within the setup. I had to change them back and I am not sure a regular novice would have the skills to do such a thing as many people will be installing the forum to a remote location without using linux. I myself used only a ftp program and a login control panel for php/perl etc tec
Many web providers have designed new commercial sites with the ability to manage there PHP data bases from a http control panel.
I read it somewhere dont know who made mention of it but, when the script installs to the forum who becomes the owner???
Here is another idea, have a picture on the setup page of the current layout, have them click the graphic image in the area they want to modify.. upon doing this have it bring their setup page out "one that contains a box with the setup info" for the area to be changed.
FUD is already the best forum written anywhere but upon adding such a feature I believe I could use it on my commercial website "meaning add it as a feature given to my clients" and offer it to all my customers and maybe even set it up for them "which I might just do anyway" I also have another major provider "liquidweb.com" they are willing to add it to the auto config control panel of their commercial webadmins structure "so that there client will have it at there finger tips as well.
I cant explain by typing I would do better on the phone...
call me 1-863-709-0699 ask for ghost...
I must say FUD can not even be compared with the others, it is far superior... funny thing I saw someone "selling a forum database setup" that did not even have HTML support or a 3rd of the features FUD has... his price 60 dollars! I laughed when I saw it thinking how much more FUD had to offer and how his did not even compare to FUD...
Another IDEA.. a warning message telling the admin to never change the status of himself.. i.e dont ever make the admin a moderator, dont know what I was thinking and I am not even sure why I did it was just playing wid all the features, well I changed the status of the admin and it locked me out of the admin control panel LoL i could not get back in to it.. thats when I discovered that I had no user rights to the dir anymore ehhehehe anyway a nice warning telling them what they can change and cant change about the admin our make it so that those parts of the admin account can not be modified
In short FUD Rules!
P.S. Thank you for all you have done so far and for giving us such a great tool for communication, I belive FUD is #1...
