Hello,

I have recently downloaded FudForum 2.3.1 and think it is a very good forum program, however I have a question about Groups.

Is it possible to set the forums up so that some registered users can post to some forums and not others. I could do it by setting a password on the forums that i only want some people to have access to, but unless there is no other way of doing it I would rather not use that method.

I thought that I should be able to achive this using groups but I dont seem to be able to achieve it.

All help appreciated.

This is exactly what the group system is for.
Lets say you want only users 'john, laura and brian' to be able to access the forum called 'test'.

1) As an admin go to the front page of the forum, click on the 'Group(s) Manager' link.
2) From the select on the page that appears choose group called 'test'.
4) Inside the text box labled 'Member' enter the name of the user you wish to be able to access this forum, ex. john and click 'Add Member' button on the right side of the screen. Repeat this step for every user you wish to add.
5) Since this is a restricted forum, we want to make sure no one but 'john, laura and brian' can access it. To do so edit the 'Anonymous' and 'All Registered Users' these group represent the
permissions for all anonymous & and all registered users. Once you take away permissions from those 2 users then only
'john, laura and brian' will be able to access the forum 'test'.
