Hi all,

How exactly does e-mail notification work? I know the forum tries to be clever about it so that users aren't inundated with mail but...at what point does it start sending notifications again? For example, If I start a new thread and people reply I get only one e-mail. If I then go and read that thread so far, go away then more people reply will I get another mail? Or is it only if I reply to that thread again I'll get another reply? Basically what I'm asking I suppose is what triggers the forum to send further notifications for a thread?

Also, on the same subject, if I'm subscribed to a forum will I get an e-mail for EVERY new thread that's posted.

Sorry about the rant but my forum users are moaning at me that e-mail notification isn't working properly but I'm not even sure what properly should be!

Aight, I'll explain this one more time, after this RTFM Wink.

Let's say we got user U, this user subscribes to a thread T. When someone writes a reply to T and assuming U does not have any pending notifications he will recieve an email notification. Now, until U reads the thread about which he recieved the email notification about or marks all messages read, U will not recieve any further emails.
The most basic explanation I can offer, is that user will only be notified via email, if they have no unread messages in other topics they are subscribed to.

So, you have to have read ALL messages in ALL subscribed threads before you get another notification?

P.S. Thanks protoss. You the man!

That correct. Otherwise you'd get flooded by email messages in no time.
