Page one of some of our forum threads are just vanishing here and there. You can view following pages, but the first page is empty. What causes this?

Could you show me a URL of what you mean, I've never seen of heard reports of the described behaviour. Also try running the cosnsistency checker to determine if the behaviour continue.

Page one here is empty.

It seems to self correct though, sometimes after hours, sometimes days.

If you run the cosistency checker, does the problem correct itself right away?

Here's another one today.

I'm concerned about running the 'consistency checker'. Since the forum is not on a server we control, and since there are so many problems with permissions, etc., I'm worried that running anything will result in problems which I cannot correct. Hosting companies do not look well on having to tinker with third party software.

I'm afraid that there is little you can do other then to run the consistency checker.
