Added: Also had to correct the globals.php entry:

from: $GLOBALS['WWW_ROOT_DISK'] = '/home/[domain]/public_html/';

to: $GLOBALS['WWW_ROOT_DISK'] = '/home/[domain]/public_html/forum/';

Adding the forum's folder was necessary to let FUDforum find its files and run.
