Yup, that's the point I was making: A pseudo-random number
generator is of no use for generating truly random numbers, because
the seed must be as large as all the output you'll ever want
generated, so you get into infinite regress if you even try to use
a PRNG for this kind of purpose.
See my just-previous post for report of completion of first draft
of code to use zero-order Markov model for interval refinement. One
thing I forgot to say then, and will add now: It takes only about 3
or 4 milliseconds to generate enough microsecond-time samples to
generate enough entropy to refine an interval whose length is 210
decimal digits down to a single integer. (The big-integer
arithmetic probably consumes a lot more time; I haven't bothered to
time it yet. I really don't care if it takes as long as a full
minute because I need to do this process only once per PHP/MySQL
hosting site that I port my code to.)
