i deleteed all the post ,then run Compact Messages.the file msg_1 and private can't be empty.

Not sure I understand, so let me try to clarify.

You've deleted ALL messages in the forum and then you've ran the compactor and you say that msg_1 file size is >0?

What is the final size of that file after the compactor has been run?

yes! msg_1 's size >0

msg_1 is 737 bytes in my test forum. now , i delete some of posts, msg_1 is 436 bytes after run Compact Messages.
next ,i delete all the posts, msg_1 is still 436 bytes after run Compact Messages

hrm, I'll check again, but I did test this code and it worked fine. Make sure that there are absolutely no messages on the forum and that you do not have any forum in the 'trash bin' that contain messages.

i reinstall rc2 and test it (both win2000 and linux(redhat))

but I'm sure it still exist!

actually it isn't a important bug:)

Ok, I'll do more tests.

Just to verify the problem let me see if I got the correct test case scenario.

You've installed a clean FUDforum 2.3.2RC2, then made a few messages on the forum. Then you went and deleted every single message. Then you went to the compactor control panel and told it to compact the forum's messages. After the compactor run, you checked the msg_1 file and it's size was >0 bytes.

Is this correct?

You were right the bug was indeed, I did fix it the CVS now for real Wink and it works properly now.
