Hi,

What about the idea of a cc field when posting/replying to a message in a forum? I am beginning to see FUD as an excellent alternative to using an email client when participating in lists. Quite often, when I'm posting to a list I send a copy to to myself, to friends, or to one of my other lists.

Cheers,

Tobias

Too complicated to implement not to mention useless to vast majority of the users. Most people i've encountered use the mailing list feature to create a searcheable archive of their list not for posting via the forum. That said you could certainly hackup such a feature for yourself.

Yeah. makes sense. Sorry if you're getting bored by my many suggestions. Wink

Here's our situation, which is perhaps uncommon: our users are typically coming from Africa, using cybercafes or expensive/unreliable dial-up connections to access the Internet. We're committed to helping them to use the tools and resources on the Internet more effectively. Generally, they use our IMP Webmail to access their e-mail, but some do use Outlook express or an offline email client. They are not very sophisticated users of IMP's filters or mail rules, which are not quite as powerful or easy to use as those they'd get in Outlook or even Yahoo/Hotmail. So they get swamped with mail.

Lists exascerbate this problem - they have to subscribe to lists to gain access to the opportunities offered by them, which means that they get even more swamped! It seems to me that separating list communication from personal e-mail offers a really nifty opportunity to liberate these people from all that unwanted mail! FUD comes pretty darn close to making that possible - let's see how far we can take this idea.

Cheers,

Tobias
