There's a small issue when editing user profiles as administrator:
1. Use the user manager for picking up a user
2. chose "editing" the profile and change a property
3. now save it by typing your admin password
you will be dropped to your own profile, which is rather unexpected since I don't want to change anything there
Expected result would be back to the user manager dialog inside of the admin control panel (from where we started).
Affected version is RC7, chances are it could be connected with path info being enabled

partly solved. The remaining problem is, the changes I make still don't take any effect.
Demonstration:
pick up someone's profile and edit / remove the avatar. After saving view the user's profile again. The link is still around, though it shouldn't any longer.
Running consistency checker doesn't solve the problem.

But the problem does exist. To illustrate what I mean:
Let's assume a user called mr_x has just created a profile. He doesn't like filling out forms so he enters a lot of garbage informations, including an avatar link leading to nowhere (for instance )
If you look at the profile now you'll see a broken pic as avatar. Since we don't like broken pics and the information provided is obviously useless we edit the user's profile and remove the link from the avatar field. We save our changes. Then of course, since we want to make sure we're not tricked by caching we rebuild anything. Now look again and - voila: exactly the same garbage link is still around. It seems non deletable.
This strongly reminds me of problems way back in 2002 FUD once had with both avatar and forum icons, which also were sort of "undeletable".
Maybe It would help if I provided you with access data to the forum so you can look for yourself if it's not reproducable. Just as an offer.

BTW while broken avatars are not impossible, what you suggest is impossible. If a user gave a URL to an invalid image that avatar would've been rejected and form submission would fail with an error indicating invalid avatar was supplied.
