I noticed that the last few builds disable the "post" button when you press it.

Would it prudent to also disable the other buttons, like the Preview Message button, etc?

Nope, the post button is disabled to prevent the post being submitted twice when people accidentaly double-click on the button.
This is actually a very old feature.
