I just upgraded to 2.3.0 stable release (from 2.3.0RC3) and the version number now shows as 2.3.0RC4.

I downloaded the FUDforum2_upgrade_20020826.zip file.

Did you get any error messages during the upgrade process?

I've upgraded this forum and as you can see it is showing to correct version. There is however the possibility that the upgrade script failed, in which case it will restore your core.inc file (contains the forum version #) to its previous state.
