when they hit submit, they get:

Could not open socket

Sounds like a database connection error. Have you checked the ACP "Error Log Viewer" for any latest forum errors or specifically the "Latest SQL Errors" to get better detail of the error? Also the http logs would be a good place to look.

it appears to be the recapcha plugin. cannot figure out how to fix it though
