thanks

Quite correct, since the install script does not ask for the Time Zone, the root account is setup with the default time zone.

I'm having the same problem on with an installation of this on our intranet. Although the time zone is set to U.S./New York as the default in the admin section and also set to that in our user profiles, the actual time shown is GMT. I'd appreciate any help with this that anyone can provide.
Thanks!

Does this happen for all users or anonymous users only?

All users, registered and anonymous. The name of the time zone displayed for registered users is correct but the time shown is always GMT. Unregistered users see both the zone and the time as GMT. This also effects the timestamps of all posts and private messages. Sorry I can't give the URL for you to see for yourself but as I mentioned before, it's part of our company's intranet.

Gotcha. Thanks for your help and good luck in tracking down this weird error. Aside from a few quirks like this, FUD is by far the BEST forum system I've seen and we've had to assess a LOT of them for our company before choosing this one.
