install_safe.php ??? [message #6015]

Ok, someone installed zlib on the server.

Now, after Step 1, i get fallowing error:

I chmoded 777 the dirs where I want to install fudforum, then i click ok.
install.php redirects to "install_safe.php"

but there's no install_safe.php on the server, nor in the downloadable version of fudforum...

what's wrong??

It appears that this server has safe_mode enabled, during safe_mode installation the install script makes a copy of itself called install_safe.php which is where it is trying to direct you. However, it appears this copy was not made for some reason, I'll look into the code to find out why.

Btw, the 2.3.2 release will come with an installer that will work on machines without zlib support.

k. it's definatly a problem with permissions.

i'm installing it in my home at university:

/home/andress/ is chmod 777
/home/andress/public_html/test is chmod 777
/home/andress/public_html/test/FUDForum2/ is chmod 777

the install.php is in /home/andress/public_html/test/FUDForum2/
and I call it with http://people.ee.ethz.ch/~andress/test/FUDforum2/install.php

Step 1:

Server Root
/home/andress/public_html/test/fudforum/
Forum Data Root
/usr/tardis/home-itet-k/andress/fudforum/
Forum WWW Root
http://people.ee.ethz.ch/~andress/test/fudforum/

explanation:
as the webserver is not the same machine as the one holding all the user-homes, "/usr/tardis/home-itet-k/andress/fudforum/" must be a link to my home at: /home/andress/fudforum/.

then I hit "Next"

what happens?

1. a directory "fudforum" has been installed in /home/andress/
that's good, but the directory is empty
2. a directory "fudforum" has been installed in /home/andress/public_html/test/
that's good, but the directory is empty
3. there's no install_safe.php anywhere!

I'm beeing redirected to the error page of our department:
