Had an incident this week where my Host suddenly changed servers on me making the installed Forums inoperable because the full server path could not be found.

This caused quite a problem getting fixed.

While speaking to the support team their recommendation was to use the Domain directory instead of the full server path for the globals.php symbolic link on installation to avoid similar problems in the future.

Though I'm not quite sure how that all works thought I'd throw it out here for your thoughts.

It sounds like they've setup symlinks that will remain the same regardless of any changes to the physical directory structure on the server.
If this is indeed the case, you should use the directory structure they've told you to use to prevent future problems.

Yes, they did away with the (/.server) portion of the path.
