So, over in alt.comp.lang.php, I were told by a Dr sumbuddy that
alt.comp.lang.php is on the outs and comp.lang.php is the kewl place
to post.

What's the deal, the real deal?

I figured to get a bit of data by seeing who replies where.

Thanks.

Yeah, so, the way it appears to me is that there are more bullshit
arguments and less actual technical discussion in comp.lang.php.

No, just a few trolls running around. They've been more active lately
than in general.

Huh. What about technical content, do you think either one is better
than the other?

Once you filter out the trolls, there is some good technical content here.

Since your post was crossposted to two groups, shall I assume that you
meant "in either one"?

Yea, although there aren't many trolls in a.c.l.p. Not a lot of traffic
there at all, in fact.

Stick to comp.lang.php.
Most traffic in there (here). ;-)
But I have the impression many people read both.

Yes, I agree that more traffic is in comp.lang.php, but whether or not
the extra traffic is a combination of spam and arguments between a few
familiar combatants is what I'm wondering.

Well, try us. :-)
Do you have a PHP question/problem?

I used up most of the easy questions years back, like "why are
function names inconsistent, because programmers should be confused,
or because the developers were idiots?" These days I just use
is_array() and isset() from habit and try not to need any more help
than is necessary.

On the other hand, is there a good interactive debugger available for
use in PHP server development?
