This is a very strange issue on my forum that just appeared one day. So if you're a non-member/just a site visitor, the smilies in the posts would not appear. Instead there are its associated text placeholders. "Very Happy" "Nod" etc. BUT when you login, those smilies appear just fine. And then when you log back out, sometimes those smilies stay there, but usually it changes back to the text placeholders.

I'm not sure where to begin troubleshooting this. I've tried running Message Rebuilding and Forum Consistency but no dice. Confused

Ok so I've gotten a bit more info. The following is what the smileys appear as whether I'm a visitor or a logged in member.

And then when I rightclick on them and "View Image" it leads to the following error.

However when I login as administrator, the smileys appear just fine.

I've also noticed many wp-login.php errors in the httpd-error logs, but I'm not sure if it's related to this smiley issue.

I am unsure of what "not found or unable to stat" means.

Trying to "View Image" as a visitor also produces a different behavior. The thread page simply reloads and the following "images/smiley_icons/icon_razz.gif" is added to the URL. But trying to go to that URL it just loads the thread page, instead of just the icon_razz.gif as it should.

Edit: Also if I repeatedly try to view the image itself, the URL becomes " /images/smiley_icons/images/smiley_icons/images/smiley_icons/images/smiley_ icons/images/smiley_icons/images/smiley_icons/icon_razz.gif ". Where another "images/smiley_icons" are added to the URL each time I try to view the image.
