There is and will not be a fearure that would allow to delete their own posts. You can grant certain users the ability to delete posts, but that would mean they could delete any message/topic in that forum. Obviously moderators & admins can do this as well.

At first, in group manager I've set "Delete" to "yes". Then, after your post, I set it back to "no". But, when I login under some test accounts I see that they gets "delete" button shown up along with "reply" while reading any messages.
Now, how to get rid of it?

I realized that in [fud_group_members] and [fud_group_cache] tables somehow was left 'Y' in [up_DEL] field for one particular group for registered user. As I said, in group manager everything was 'N'. And yes, I did consistency check

Did you use the correct group manager (you should've been using the one where you get the specify perms for individual users). Also, did the group you were changing the permissions in had more then the 2 default users and did it have default users at all (custom group)?

The one in the admin center does something else entirely, it even has a BIG warning at the top. That control panel defines the sort of settings the group manager can grant/remove from users in the group they control. You can also assign group leaders via that control panel. The actual permission controlling is done via the user land group manager linked to from the front page.
