A bug in the avatar manager. You can't view the avatars but you can still select them and everything works - just can't view them. Same thing in the user profile. You can view the avatars that are availible, but once you select one and the refresh of the page occurs they disappear. You can see them in the forum when the user post a message though, so that all works. Thanks for the quick work and a cool forum!

Picture the daffodil. And while you do that, I'll be over here going through your stuff.

2 questions:

1) Which browser you are using?
2) Is your JavaScript enabled?

Thanks

If u choose to upload an atavar in ur profil it works fine however using the atavar manager for uploading it seems that paths get screwed up and this is how it will look like in the end:

Just in the user profile now. You can view the built in avatars but once you click the avatar you want, it won't show in the users profile. Everything else seems to be doing great.

Hi
I have the same problem with avatars.
My hosting did not provide Telnet or shell access.
I tried to look in the CVS repository , but a connection is always timed out.

If this is not too much trouble for you , can you please describe what was changed in

Affected files admavatar.php & admavatarsel.php
Affected file register.php.t

Thank you!

admavatar.php and dmavatarsel.php did not change.
register.php.t change that you are talking about is already part of 2.3.6

http://cvs.prohost.org/c/viewcvs.cgi/install/forum_data/src/register.php.t

you can see that here.

I took a closer look to the problem:

When I upload avatar from my computer , in the images/custom_avatars/ folder I can not see an extension attached to the file, although file is there.

Of course, I am going to try to investigate myself. Just wondering if somebody else got the same problem...

Thank you!

That's correct, the extension of the file is not stored it is left up to the browser to determine the file type.

Hmmm...
OK, I uploaded avatar and in the folder images/custom_avatars/ folder I have file 1

When I saved my changes and tried to see a profile, I see a broken link in Opera 6 and IE6...

Even if I put the image URL in the address bar like:
http://www.mysite.com/forums/images/custom_avatars/1
I got error 403 (all directories chmod to 777)

Hmm.. what kind of an image is it?
Never seen a problem you describe myself, heck your avatar on this forum seems to work just fine.

You are absolutely right. Smile

I tried my avatar on your site and everything is working fine. Even I took a look in the source and I saw the link to avatar without extension...

Oh, well.. May be I am doing something wrong...

Thank you for your quick response!

I finally got it... Smile

I don't know why, but when I uploaded the avatar through the forum, a permission to file was set to 600 instead of 644. I just changed this manually.

Am I Simpson or what ? D'oh! Very Happy
