It seems that different web servers expect different permissions, and FUDforum's one size fits all approach is not always working.
On the positive side, noting will be lost, just inaccessible, until you reinstate the correct permissions.
On the command prompt -
find /var/www/html/forum -type d -print0 | xargs -0 chmod 755
find /var/www/html/forum -type f -print0 | xargs -0 chmod 644

Unlocking then locking files results in wrong permissions |

Hello,
Attempting to understand the structure of the Admin
Control Panel, I tried the "Lock/Unlock Forum Files"
tab, and unlocked the files. Then, realizing it was
not what I wanted, I re-locked them.
The problem is that after this operation, all of the
forum's theming was lost. The images were gone, and
(after clearing my browser's cache) there was no styling
at all, leaving with only plain text and hyperlinks.
Playing with the file explorer, I find that the following
sets of permissions are applied:
Unlocked Locked
________ ______
Directory | 755 711
File | 644 600
This table differs from what is documented at
http://cvs.prohost.org/index.php?title=Lock/Unlock_Forum_Files
In particular, the world has no permissions permissions
at all on files when they are locked.
Is this expected? Any workaround?
Thanks in advance,
Jean Abou Samra
