ok, deleted the UPGRADE_STATUS file as told and the upgrade script starts to run. It then complains it is missing :-
Missing Message entry_rating_delete in i18n/english/msg
Sorry to be a pain!

nope, all I have is a blank screen! I tried to do the sensible thing and back up db.inc b4 starting but of course I rebuilt the theme.

oh dear!
I applied the patch (or at least it seemd ok), rebuilt the theme and now all I have is a blank screen. Any ideas how I can get my forum back please?

Is it just me? I have the new version running and the new bits are greeat (thanks Ilia) but at first I found I had to refresh my browser after connecting to the page or all I got was a blacnk page. It seems to be ok for me now but other folks are experiencing the same thing. Any ideas?

A new version of FUDforum is on the release path. This release is largely a feature addition release with a fair quantity of new functionality being added. That said there were a few bug fixes sprinkled in between as well.
New Features
- Updated Yahoo Ajax lib
- Added an option that enabled admins and moderators to edit topic ratings
- Added Account moderators
- Added GEOIP used to show flags beside member names based on IP location.
- Always default to moving messages into the saved folder
- Allow sorting of private messages
- Added up/down arrows for navigating category list on the front page
- Added an option of adding "permanent" announcements.
- Added Google & Skype IM links
- Improved display of topic ratings
Bug Fixes
- Fixed category collapsing (mostly IE related bugs)
- Added improved validation for JavaScript inside [img] and [src] tags
- Fixed marking of read in tree view
- Skip # on inlined templates
- Fixed account settings tab
- Properly handle NULL fields inside the data dump
- Fixed parsing back of wikipedia tags
- Fixed show own post tab highlight in usercp
- Fixed poll cache rebuilding
- Do not show prev/next buttons when not applicable in thread merge
- Fixed database version fetch for SQLite on system info page
- Fixed a bug whereby moderators would see extra forums on category view
- Update last login on successful login as well.
- Workaround for crashed in PHP on Win32 with __COMPILER_HALT_OFFSET__
- Fixed cancel button on admin control panels
