I've disabled privatemessageing on my forum. And I'm a little confused as to the purpose of buddly list and ignore list in the user's profile.

Are these two sections strictly for private messaging? or do they serve another purpose? What is that purpose?

If they are strictly for private messaging, is there a way to conditionally remove those tabs from the user control panel?
